Following on from last week’s video; bodyboarding on snow, we have just uploaded another snow video to the Sandskater You Tube Channel.
The video was filmed on Dartmoor at the height of the snowy period in February 2009. Most of the moor was only accessible to 4×4’s, so we took advantage of the conditions and got a load of the Sandskater crew together and towed them behind a Land Rover on skimboards and bodyboards.
This 8 minute video is the result:

A few of the crew headed up to Dartmoor this week to get in some snow bodyboarding.
We used a few Circle One bodyboards, which work really well on snow and headed to a nice steep hill with a natural drop off.
We then built a compacted snow launch ramp, and then threw ourselves down the hill on bodyboards.
The result is these photos & video:

Following on from the Stoke - what is it? article, a few weeks ago where i discussed what stoke is, it is now time to turn our attention to “getting stoked”.
Over the winter one of our team guys, Adam Wootton, was going through a bad patch and questioning his own commitment to skimboarding. He managed to turn things around, and “get stoked”, and this his story of how that happened.
So, i am going to hand over to Adam, and let him describe in his own words, what changed his whole perspective.

“To catch a wave was (and is) to stoke the fires of the heart and soul. Hence the terms: to be stoked, a stoked life, degrees of stoke and pure stoke.” - John Grissam, Pure Stoke (1982)
Every true surfer/skimboarder has had the feeling of stoke at some point in their lives.
That feeling you get from nailing your first wrap or barrel, or sticking that bigspin you have been working on for months. The feeling you get whilst gliding effortlessly down the wave, when your mind forgets all your everyday worries, and its just you and the wave, and you are living just for that moment.
For me, I can think of one person who demonstrates “stoke” more than anybody else i know: Chris Danby.

Sandskater bodyboard team rider Henry Irvine recently spent a few days in Cornwall to ease him back into bodyboarding after his broken arm earlier this year.
As part of the ritual, his bodyboarding chums (Chris & Mike) got him drunk, and then asked him some questions related to UK bodyboarding, and filmed the results.
The hilarous results of this little episode can be found below…

A rare chance to score big skim during the summer months saw some of the Sandskater & Paignton crew join the Bournemouth posse down at Mother Iveys Bay on Sunday.
We met up to get some filming done for the forthcoming Sandskater skim dvd - Scratch.
There was some head high peaks coming through and offloading onto the beach, which gave the tourists to the area a rare glimpse of power of one of Britains heaviest waves.
