We have taken delivery this week of the fantastic new Banshee Bungee!
Basically, its a 20ft long bungee rope that can be stretched to over 200ft, and launch you at over 30mph! Some of the bungee packages come with 2 or 3 bungee ropes, so you can link a few bungees together to get an even faster & longer pull.
When used with the correct anchor, it can allow skimboarders to reach waves further out that wouldn’t be reachable with just running and side slipping.
But it doesn’t stop there. Banshee Bungee packages can be used to give a boost to any kind of board sport. You can use it with skateboards, snowboards, wakeboards & wake skates, to name a few. The possibilities are endless!
Lets take a closer look into the world of Banshee Bungee…

Here are, not 1, but 3 videos recently posted on the French skimboarding website Batardubreak. They are from the French International contest that we attended in August.
As always the videos are as sick as ever, so lets check them out now…

… well, not the real Grinch, but a homemade version (The Wench!), that has been built by some of the Paignton guys!
So what’s a Grinch?
Basically its a petrol motor attached to a winch system with a shed load of rope and a ski-handle at one end. The idea is you can tow yourselves into waves and along the shoreline on skimboard.
You can buy a Grinch in the US, but they are expensive, so some of the Paignton locals with a good engineering background set about making one for themselves.
This how they did it…

We just spotted this sick video on Youtube of the 2008 French Skimboard International contest that we attended a week ago.
I think you will agree this is one good video, which showcases some amazing European skimboarding.

Sandskater team rider, Adam Wootton, alerted me to this video, it’s from the 2008 Boardwalk Blowout held in Florida, USA.
The reason i have chosen to post it here is that the conditions for the Boardwalk contest are very similar to the conditions we regulary get in the UK.
But it’s the level of riding which is the standout. It highlights what can be done in conditions very similar to ours here in the UK.
So get inspired - watch the video, then go skim…

Last week, Mark and Adam hit up some ankle slappers at Preston beach in Paignton to practice some flatland tricks. Chris was there to film it, resulting in this video. Enjoy:

A few of the Sandskater crew headed down to Tolcarne beach in Newquay on Sunday morning to try and ride the famous sidewash/wedge.
The combination of high spring tides, long range groundswell, and no wind, made the conditions favourable for our first attempt at riding “the Wedge”.
