Well, we returned from Iveys in tact. For the Paignton grom’s it was their first time at one the the best skimboarding spots the south west has to offer, and within 10 minutes of arriving Iveys had taught them who was boss by throwing a head high wave down on top of them, and dragging them up the beach.
James, Mark and Woody looked very scared as they pulled themself out the water and sand, with Mark complaining its the longest hold down he has ever had, and Woody needing a new leash for his bodyboard. They all had a new found respect for the power of the ocean.
So, what about the skimboarding? Well, the waves were coming in thick and fast, but the strong offshore winds ment that dropping the board was sketchy to say the least, so commiting fully to the run and drop was difficult. This meant it was hard to get the waves you wanted.
As the tide dropped back, an army of spongers arrived, and took over the main peak. Mr Tinkler counted 40 spongers in the water at one point, but they did treat us to a great spectical with drop knee barrells, and
